In the beginning, GoPros were a novelty and the Mirror was offering the chance to win a trip to space to celebrate the launch of Star Trek: Into Darkness. A balloon was launched just north of London with an actual printed newspaper attached to it. It reached 62 miles; bona-fide space, before crash landing in rural Cambridgeshire without any of the drama the film inspired.
